Attorney, former judge get memorial tributes

BOWLING GREEN State Auditor Betty Montgomery was among several members of the Wood County Bar Association who paid tribute yesterday to the late Jodie Stearns at the group s annual Call of the Bar service.

Glenn C. Parsons, a former probate and juvenile court judge in Wood County who died in February at age 78, also was remembered during the service, which is held to recognize bar members who have died during the previous year.

Ms. Stearns, 47, was struck by a car and killed Jan. 11 while jogging near her home in southern Wood County.

Ms. Montgomery, a former Wood County prosecutor who is running for attorney general, called Ms. Stearns a good friend with an extraordinary work ethic. She said Ms. Stearns juggled her law practice with farming, family, and doing party work as a GOP loyalist.
