Owens Community College trustees fire their former basketball coach

BLADE STAFF

Owens Community College fired its director of athletics and former basketball coach yesterday, passing on information about him to the Wood County Prosecutor s office.

Other than stating that the dismissal of Jim Welling was for cause, Owens spokesman Brad Meyer declined to speak about the reasons for the firing by the college s board of trustees.
