NAPOLEON Henry County s interim health commissioner, Rebecca Kille, was given a raise yesterday by the county s board of health, taking her annual salary to $57,000 a year.
Her previous salary, as the department s director of health education and promotion, was $48,000 a year.
She was named interim commissioner Dec. 1 after Tracy Brown resigned from the position, saying she was disappointed with her one-year job evaluation from the health board.
If the board of health is happy with Ms. Kille s performance after three months, she is expected to be hired as the health commissioner, said Wallace Nelson, president of the board of health.
Also yesterday, the board approved paying $100 a month to its previous health commissioner, Hans Schmalzried, as a consultant to Ms. Kille. He left the department in 2005.
