Gorham Fayette superintendent to retire
FAYETTE, Ohio Gorham Fayette Local Superintendent David Hankins will retire at the end of the year from this tiny school district in northwestern Fulton County.
The school board has unanimously accepted the resignation from Mr. Hankins, 56, who was hired as superintendent at Gorham Fayette in 2003, after serving as a principal there and earlier as principal at Elmwood High School in Wood County.
He was an assistant superintendent at Willard City Schools in southern Huron County before returning to Gorham Fayette. His career in the public sector includes 10 years in administration as a principal and superintendent, 20 years teaching agriculture at Stryker High School in Williams County, 4 1/2 years in the Air Force, and 2 years as a school bus driver in Kentucky.
I think it s just time to rest, said Mr. Hankins, who is paid $83,500 this year.
The school board is accepting resumes for his position until March 16.
