Hot rods in power tour to drive through area
A large group of hot rod cars are to pass through northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan today during the first leg of the 2007 Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour.
Drivers will leave the IX Center near Cleveland about 9 a.m. today and will travel through Oregon and Toledo to I-75 as they head into Michigan, where they will stop for lunch in Sterling State Park in Monroe.
The lunch stop will place the drivers about 105 miles into their trip, nearly halfway to their evening destination of Kalamazoo, Mich. On Monday morning, the group will leave for Racine, Wis.
The tour will continue to Springfield, Ill., on Tuesday; Evansville, Ind., on Wednesday; Memphis on Thursday, and Little Rock, Ark., on Friday.
Jay Leno, host of the Tonight Show, is to drive a jet turbine-powered hot rod on the tour, which also will feature the latest GM Performance Division projects including the new Camaro convertible, Silverado Roadside Assistance truck, and an H3 Hummer with a sliding cloth top.
