LUCKEY, Ohio - A 57-year-old man was pronounced dead and a mother and her 3-year-old daughter were flown to a trauma center yesterday after a pickup truck struck a utility pole in northeastern Wood County, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Dennis Spanyers, a passenger in the pickup, died, according to the patrol's Bowling Green post, which was unable to provide his address.
The driver, Blanca Salinas, of Luckey, was in serious condition last night in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where she was flown with her daughter, Emily Cruz, also of Luckey, who was in fair condition.
Ms. Salinas was driving east on State Rt. 582, just east of Luckey, about 12:30 p.m. when the truck went off the south side of the road, crossed over the road, went off the north side, and struck the utility pole.
