Motorcycle crash injures Ottawa teen

GLANDORF, Ohio - A teenager from the Ottawa, Ohio, area was seriously hurt late Wednesday when the motorcycle he was operating crashed on Lakeshore Drive near the Putnam County community of Glandorf, the sheriff's office said.

Zachary J. Cassidy, 17, who was thrown from the motorcycle, was in critical condition last night in St. Rita's Mercy Medical Center, Lima.

The youth was northbound on Lakeshore near Glandorf, just west of Ottawa, about

10:15 p.m. when he lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to go off the right side of the roadway, where it struck a manhole cover, deputies said.

Sheriff's deputies did not say whether the teen was wearing a helmet at the time.
