North Baltimore plans to seek help in inquiry
NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio Village Council plans to ask the Ohio Attorney General s Office to investigate possible criminal wrongdoing by longtime village police Chief Gerald Perry.
The chief has been on paid administrative leave since July 26, when the village said it was looking into unspecified complaints it received concerning the chief and the procedures he follows.
A retired Toledo police officer was hired to assist in the investigation, which is nearly complete, village Administrator Kathy Healy said.
On Tuesday night, council scheduled a special meeting for 5 p.m. tomorrow, at which time council is expected to ask the Wood County Prosecutor s Office to have the attorney general appoint a special prosecutor to look into the case.
Council also hired George Schlub of Kenton, Ohio, as full-time acting chief at an hourly rate of $23.50.
