Commissioners expand firm s arena contract

The Lucas County commissioners have amended the county s agreement with Gateway Consulting Group of Cleveland to include design work for audio, visual, and acoustical elements for the new multipurpose arena in downtown Toledo.

The contract with Gateway, which the county entered into last February for consulting services related to the arena, also was amended to include directional signage and food-service design.

Contracts for those services now will be subcontracts under the Gateway agreement.

County Administrator Mike Beazley said the services were determined not to be within the scope of HNTB, a national architectural firm working on the arena, before a contract with HNTB was signed in November.

The contract was amended Tuesday.
