ELIDA, Ohio - A 66-year-old Putnam County woman was killed Saturday in the collision of a sport utility vehicle and a minivan at State Rt. 309 and Redd Road between Elida and Delphos, Ohio, an Allen County sheriff's sergeant said.
Mary Kaple of Ottoville, Ohio, a passenger in the SUV, was thrown from the vehicle driven by her husband, Robert Kaple, 67. She was pronounced dead at St. Rita's Mercy Medical Center, Lima.
Mr. Kaple and the driver of the minivan, Kelly Cross, 40, of Delphos, were both released from St. Rita's yesterday.
Mr. Kaple was driving south on Redd in Marion Township about 5 p.m. and failed to yield at a stop sign at Route 309. The Kaples' SUV was hit by the van, which was westbound on Route 309, Sgt. Brock Douglass said.
