Dann won't quit despite talk of imminent resignation

COLUMBUS Attorney General Marc Dann sought to quash reports Tuesday that his resignation is imminent after a meeting behind closed doors with Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher. Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann has not resigned, and no further announcements are planned, his office said. Talk that the disgraced attorney general was about to resign swirled around the Statehouse just as lawmakers were about to launch a wide-ranging investigation of his office. Sen. Teresa Fedor (D., Toledo) said Senate Democrats were told a resignation was very likely. Earlier Tuesday, House Democrats accused Mr. Dann, a fellow Democrat, of 'malfeasance'' and 'gross neglect of duty'' in a resolution seeking Mr. Dann's impeachment. The move came just as the Republican-controlled House was preparing to pass a bill to give Ohio Inspector General Tom Charles one-time authority to conduct a broad examination of the attorney general's office.
