Crash near turnpike in Erie County kills man
MILAN, Ohio - A Milan man was killed and a Vermilion, Ohio, man was hurt when a motorcycle and a car collided Wednesday night on Wikel Road near this Erie County community, authorities said.
Robert Still, 49, the motorcyclist, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Joshua Walbom, 19, the car driver, was taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk, Ohio, with nonincapacitating injuries. A hospital spokesman said yesterday she had no information on a person by that name.
The crash occurred about 7:15 p.m. on Wikel about a half-mile south of Huff Road near the Ohio Turnpike in Erie County's Milan Township, troopers said.
Mr. Still was southbound on Wikel when Mr. Walbom, who started turning his car from northbound Wikel west into a private driveway, drove into the path of the motorcycle.
The motorcycle hit the car's right front corner, went airborne, and flew over the car, throwing Mr. Still on a grassy area on the west side of the road. He was wearing a helmet, troopers said.
