Landfill in Findlay to pay $27,000 for violating air permit

FINDLAY The Hancock County Landfill has agreed to pay a $27,000 civil penalty to the Ohio EPA for an air pollution-control permit violation, the agency said.

The landfill is to pay $21,600 to the agency s environmental education fund and air pollution control programs. The remaining $5,400 is earmarked for the agency s clean-diesel school bus program.

The landfill s pollution-control permit expired Aug. 28, 2007. Its new permit is under review by the U.S. EPA. The landfill must follow requirements in the expired permit until a new permit is approved, the state agency said.
