Hicksville man critically hurt in crash on U.S. 127

BLADE STAFF

BRYAN — A collision on U.S. 127 south of here Saturday night sent two people to hospitals, one with critical injuries, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Troopers from the Defiance post said Greg Laney of Hicksville was southbound on Route 127 when his car drifted left of center and struck a northbound auto.

The impact caused the northbound car to spin, while the other car continued south for 100 yards, left the road, struck a ditch, and went airborne, ejecting Mr. Laney and coming to rest on its top.

Mr. Laney was taken by air ambulance to Toledo Hospital, where he was in critical condition last night. The driver of the second car, Sarah Spencer of Bryan, was transported to Community Hospitals and Wellness Center, Bryan, where her condition was unavailable.

Troopers said her injuries were not life threatening, adding that alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
