Toledo Christian scored 28 points in the first quarter and never looked back in handing Cardinal Stritch a 35-22 setback at Clay Saturday night in a Toledo Area Athletic Conference game.
Zach Brumbaugh returned the opening kick 67 yards for a score for Toledo Christian (4-2, 2-0 TAAC).
The Eagles then recovered an onside kick and scored on the next play when Nick Rightnowar hooked up with David Westmeyer on a 44-yard touchdown pass.
Rightnowar completed 11 of 22 passes for 176 yards and four touchdowns. Westmeyer had four catches for 67 yards and two scores. Brumbaugh also scored on a TD pass and Sam Ivan scored on a 29-yard pass play.
Graham Miller led TC in rushing with 50 yards on 14 carries. The Eagles forced five turnovers, including four fumbles.
Cardinal Stritch (3-3, 2-1 TAAC) had 253 rushing yards. Mike Blazevich rushed for a one-yard run. Nick Fuller and Tim Langlois also scored.
Gates Mills Gilmour 42, Gibsonburg 6
GATE MILLS, Ohio — Gibsonburg had 203 yards of total offense and could only score once.
Justin Swartz, who had 65 rushing yards, scored on a one-yard run for the Golden Bears (0-6).
Matt Debick threw five touchdowns for Gates Mills Gilmour.
