FINDLAY — The St. John's Jesuit golf team missed qualifying for the state tournament by one stroke Wednesday.

The Titans shot 315 at the Division I district golf tournament at Red Hawk Run Golf Course. But Ashland won the event with a 298, and Avon Lake was second with a 314. The top two teams qualify for the state meet next weekend.

Senior Michael Balcar shot a 75 to earn a spot in the state tournament.

St.Francis de Sales junior Ben Torchia also earned a berth by carding a 72.

Torchia won the City League title last month, and Balcar was second.
