CITY: Whitmer, Central roll to easy victories

Whitmer 55, Bowsher 8

Jody Webb scored three touchdowns and Tre Sterritt two TDs for the Panthers (8-1, 6-0 CL) Friday night.

Tyler Palka passed 50 yards to Webb for one of his scores and Webb ran 4 and 1 yards for the others.

Sterritt tallied on a one-yard run. Alex Palicki hit Nigel Hayes on a 25-yard TD pass, Myron Mersen scored on a one-yard run, and Palka scored on a 46-yard run.

Andrew Grigsby went 79 yards in the fourth quarter for the lone TD for Bowsher (3-6, 3-3).

Central Catholic 30, Akron Buchtel 13

Calebb Goings gained 94 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns as the Irish (8-1) topped visiting Akron Buchtel (6-3).

Goings had three one-yard scores. Amir Edwards added a 65-yard touchdown run.

Buchtel's Stephen Parker rushed for 95 yards for the Griffins including a 22-yard touchdown run. He also threw a 59-yard touchdown pass to Corey Smith.

St. Francis 55, Scott 8

Jacob Wawrzyniak rushed for St. Francis' first three touchdowns and finished with 105 yards on 12 carries in a win over Scott at Rogers.

Jarrod Jefferson added 100 yards on 12 carries and scored on an eight-yard run. Andy Meinart threw two touchdown passes — to Jake Corbett and Justin Kay — for the Knights (4-5, 2-3).

Scott (1-8, 1-4) scored on a 15-yard pass from Branden Pyles to Rashad Lane.

St. John's 42, Waite 6

At Waite, St. John's quarterback Brogan Roback found Joe Robie for two touchdown passes.

Roback threw for 119 yards, and 68 of them went to Robie, who had touchdown catches of 42 and 16 yards. Roback also rushed for an 18-yard touchdown.

Nate White had a one-yard TD run for the Titans (8-1, 4-1).

For Waite (3-6, 2-3) De'Vonte Hughes caught eight passes for 55 yards and scored on a one-yard run.

Rogers 26, Clay 19

Rogers (4-4, 4-1) scored the final touchdown with 5:05 left in the game and turned back the Eagles on Derjuan Gambrell's interception of an Austin Achter pass at the Rams' 6-yard line with two minutes left.

Damond Powell had nine catches (two for touchdowns) for 127 yards for the Rams.

Clay's Kyle Steveson scored from three yards out. Powell then caught a 14-yard pass from Mark Snider for a Rogers touchdown.

Achter then ran 16 yards for a TD for Clay (3-6, 1-4), but Snider hit Powell for a 7-yard TD pass for Rogers.

Steveson scored again on a three-yard run, before Gambrell finished the scoring with a 15-yard run.

Powell caught nine of Snider's 10 completions in 19 attempts for 123 yards.
