GENOA — Genoa clinched at least a share of the Suburban Lakes League championship Friday and next week will try to win its fourth straight outright title when it plays at Elmwood.
The victory also extended the Comets' regular-season winning streak to 38 games.
Genoa (9-0, 5-0 SLL) totaled 323 yards on the ground, and Chris Cuevas was responsible for 104, as well as two touchdowns. Kyle Nutter rushed for 82 yards in nine carries to push his season total to 1,016 and a scored touchdown.
The Comets wracked up 425 total yards to Otsego's 54. The Knights (2-7, 2-3) rushed for just 18 yards.
Also scoring TDs for Genoa were Garret Scott, on a pass from Josh Bryer, Casey Wojciechowski, on a 49-yard fumble return, and Tyler Pickard and Zach Roberts, who each scored a rushing touchdown.
Patrick Henry 38, Eastwood 14
HAMLER — Quarterback Kasey Spence rushed for 137 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Patriots.
Spence also completed 17 of 21 passes for 208 yards. Alex Wilhelm had 99 receiving yards on nine grabs. Lucas Rosebrook also scored for the Patriots (7-1).
Nathan Dix hauled in a 19-yard touchdown pass from Matt Klink for the Eagles (5-4), while Isiah Conkle tallied a 17-yard run.
Elmwood 41, Lake 21
MILLBURY — Elmwood (5-4, 3-2 SLL) rolled up 433 yards (133 passing and 300 rushing), while Lake (5-4, 3-3) had 261 yards on 140 rushing and 120 passing.
Elmwood took a 21-14 lead at halftime as Jack Waldock passed to Jack Hannah for a four-yard TD, threw 26 yards to T.J. Waldock for another, and scored on a one-yard run.
The Royals got TD runs from Nathan Wacek (16 yards), Jack Waldock (12), and Michael Smith (10).
Lake's Carl Brown had TD runs of five yards and one yard, and Josh Tantari scored on a seven-yard dash.
Woodmore 34, Gibsonburg 14
GIBSONBURG — Woodmore's Grant Weirich and Pierce Fonseca each scored a defensive touchdown.
Weirich picked off a pass and returned it 53 yards and Fonseca scooped up a fumble and ran 76 yards.
Weirich caught seven passes for 179 yards, including a 35-yard TD from Jon Sandwisch. Fonseca opened the third quarter with a 11-yard TD run.
Jake Zollinger scored on a 15-yard run and totaled 92 yards on 17 carries for the Wildcats (3-6, 1-4).
Gibsonburg (0-9, 0-5) got TD runs from Jordan Eddings and Nick Black.
