An apparently accidental fire caused heavy damage to a home in Rossford late Monday.
The Rossford Fire Department said neighbors reported smelling smoke in the area and called 911 at 10:07 p.m.
Fire crews went to 428 Hillside Dr. and reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence.
No one was home at the time and two dogs inside were rescued, officials said. No injuries were reported.
Damage to the home’s interior, described as heavy, was estimated at $175,000.
Fire Chief James Verbosky said the cause appeared to be accidental, although investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to assist with the investigation and ruling, he said.
The family spent the night with relatives, Chief Verbosky said.
