Toledo man dies in fatal crash on U.S. 6
BOWLING GREEN — A Toledo man died this afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 6, near Sand Ridge Road in Plain Township.
Thomas J. Joseph, 58, of Toledo, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4:30 p.m. crash. The other two drivers, Helen J. Missildine, 67, of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Nickolas M. Horvath, age 43, of Bellevue, Ohio, were transported to Wood County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Ohio Highway Patrol reports that Mr. Joseph was westbound on U.S. 6 when he attempted to pass a vehicle in the eastbound lane, striking head-on the tractor-trailer driven by Mr. Horvath. Mr. Thomas’ Dodge Dakota then rotated back into the westbound lane, striking the Ford Focus driven by Ms. Missildine.
All three drivers were wearing seat belts, and drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor, authorities report.
The incident remains under investigation.
Seven people were injured in a two-vehicle collision late Saturday near the same location.
