Catholic Central too much for Bedford
After his team was blanked 35-0 by Central Catholic at home last season, Bedford football coach Jeff Wood was certain of one thing: his Kicking Mules would not be shut out again in this year's rematch. That mission was accomplished Friday night at Central's Gallagher Stadium. Whitmer quarterback Nick Holley and running back Me'Gail Frisch were determined not to let Detroit Catholic Central spoil Senior Night for the Panthers. holley and Frisch, both seniors, nearly combined for 300 yards rushing to lead Whitmer to a 19-7 come-from-behind victory over the Michigan football power that played for a state championship last season. MILLBURY -- A wild tone was established instantly last night when the first two kickoffs were returned for touchdowns in a rivalry game that then saw Northwood romp to a decisive victory over Lake. The schools are located less than six miles apart, and "the Battle of Lemoyne Road" attracted a crowd of nearly 2,000, but the Rangers rolled to a seventh straight win in the series on the road.
