ABOUT THE TEAM:

Coach: Craig Lubinski, fourth year

Last season: 6-4, 5-0 CL

Returning letter winners: 17

Returning starters: Offense 9, defense 7

Schemes: Spread/‚Äč4-4

Top players: Seniors Stevie Johnson, 6-0, 205, RB-DE; Mac Jewell, 6-1, 190, QB; Khane Collins, 6-0, 205, RB; Mark Washington, 6-2, 230, RB-LB; Phoenix Reid, 5-8, 165, LB; Justus Satterfield, 6-2, 260, OL-DL; Isaiah Walker, 6-1, 200, TE-LB; Marceon Harris, 5-9, 180, LB.

Outlook: The defending City League champions appear to have practically everything back in place to make a run at a second straight league title.

With 20 returning letter winners, the Rebels have as much experience as any team in the CL, and should have plenty of leadership with 15 seniors.

Jewell returns at quarterback. He completed 62 of 119 passes for 783 yards, including four touchdowns last year.

The Rebels have plenty of options and depth when it comes to the backfield. Collins returns as perhaps the league’s top running threat after rushing for 1,000 yards on 151 carries, including eight touchdowns.

Johnson and Washington provide plenty of support. Johnson gained 435 yards on 90 carries (three TDs) and Washington amassed 357 yards on 44 attempts (five TDs).

Defensively, the Rebels are led by fleet-footed linebackers Reid (94 tackles), Walker (44 tackles), and Harris (33 tackles).

Lubinski said team speed is a key element in Bowsher's success.
