29 at club face counts of underage consumption

Charges of underage consumption of alcohol were filed yesterday against 29 people detained during a police raid Friday night at Caspers Teen Night Club in Perrysburg.

Those charged are 18 to 20 years old. Twenty-four of the accused are from Monroe County, four from Lucas County, and one from Virginia Beach, Va., where he is in the Navy, Perrysburg police said. The charges were filed in Perrysburg Municipal Court. Underage consumption is a misdemeanor.

Authorities raided Caspers, 12615 Roachton Rd., after undercover officers said they observed illegal beer sales.

The club's manager, David Boyd, 57, also of Monroe County, was arraigned Tuesday in Perrysburg Municipal Court on 33 counts of selling alcohol to underage persons and one count of selling alcohol without a license. He was released on his own recognizance on the condition that he not enter the club.

Charges are pending against 11 juveniles who were at the club.
