Standoff ends in North Toledo

Police bring the suspect out from the home.

Police arrest a North Toledo man who had barricaded himself inside his mobile home for several hours.

Richard Schlatter, 39, was taken into custody without incident about 12:30 p.m. yesterday and taken to Rescue Crisis Mental Health Services.

Police were called to PK Mobile Home Park, No. 19, at 6125 Telegraph Rd. about 10 a.m. after Mr. Schlatter allegedly pushed his father, Don Schlatter, who came to talk to him.

The elder Mr. Schlatter, who was not hurt, called police. Two police negotiators encouraged the younger Mr. Schlatter to come out, but he refused.

Negotiator Barbara Jackson said Richard Schlatter has a history of mental illness and was delusional.
