Ex-student convicted of setting BGSU fires

BOWLING GREEN - A former Bowling Green State University student has pleaded guilty to setting six small fires in a campus residence hall.

Christopher Appleby, 18, of Solon, Ohio, entered the plea Friday before Judge Charles Kurfess of Wood County Common Pleas Court. He is to be sentenced Aug. 6.

Appleby set the fires about 5:30 a.m. Dec. 9 inside the Harshman/Broomfield residence hall. No one was injured. Judge Kurfess released him on his own recognizance and ordered that he not enter the BGSU campus.
