A 9-month-old boy was in serious condition last night in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center after he nearly drowned in a bathtub in his residence at 131 Weiler Homes, authorities said.
Dorian Neely was taken to the hospital after the incident that was reported about 8:50 a.m., authorities said.
The boy's mother put him and his sibling in the tub, walked out of the bathroom to get a diaper, and returned to find the 9-month-old face down and submerged in the water. The unidentified mother pulled her unconscious son out of the tub, called 911, and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Battalion Fire Chief Greg Locher said.
The boy had regained consciousness by the time life squad paramedics had arrived authorities said.
