FirstEnergy ratepayers can get trees for free

About 27,100 free tree seedlings are available for FirstEnergy Corp. ratepayers in observance of Arbor Day, which is today.

The seedlings being offered are common lilac and Chinese dogwood trees in 8 to 16-inch sizes. They will grow to a height of 15 to 20 feet, FirstEnergy said.

The utility said it is making them available at its local electric offices throughout Ohio and western Pennsylvania, including its Toledo Edison and Ohio Edison subsidiaries.

Locations where trees can be obtained in this region include:

Toledo - 215 Summit St., Suite D.

Defiance - 400 Third St.

Norwalk - 19 West Main St.

Port Clinton - 135 East Second St.

Sandusky - 237 West Washington Row.
