Council gives Escobar another 2-year term

Toledo City Council last night re-elected Louis Escobar as council president for two years.

Mr. Escobar, elected to an at-large seat in 1997 and 2001, was chosen by his fellow councilmen on an 11-0 vote. Councilman Peter Gerken was absent. Mr. Escobar was first elected president in January, 2003, to fill the second year of ex-Councilman Peter Ujvagi.

Also last night, six district councilmen were sworn in for four-year terms. They were Wilma Brown (District 1), Rob Ludeman (District 2), Robert McCloskey (District 3), Michael Ashford (District 4), Ellen Grachek (District 5), and Wade Kapszukiewicz (District 6).

Council re-elected Michael Beazley as clerk of council and Mr. Kapszukiewicz as deputy president.
