Plans for a 168-unit senior housing complex near Nebraska Avenue and Reynolds Road cleared another hurdle yesterday with approval by Toledo City Council's zoning and planning committee.
The $20 million project now goes to the floor of council for a vote on June 1.
Friendship Baptist Church, 5301 Nebraska Ave., plans to convert 16 acres of vacant property behind the church into apartment units for seniors. The community would have its own drive access to Nebraska.
Meanwhile, the committee delayed for 30 days acting on a requested rezoning of 825 South Holland-Sylvania Rd. to allow a car wash.
Neighbors from nearby Westbrook Senior Village said they were concerned about noise from an all-night operation as well as about the possible other types of businesses, such as adult entertainment, that are permitted in C-3 zoning.
