Toledo man indicted in federal heroin case

A Toledo man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for possession with intent to distribute heroin, the U.S. attorney's office announced yesterday.

Fernando M. Ramirez, 40, of 927 Stillman St. was indicted on four counts after a two-year investigation.

The charges stem from incidents this year involving 49.4 grams of heroin on March 22, 12.2 grams on April 1, 49 grams on April 8, and 83 grams on June 4, Ava Dustin, an assistant U.S. attorney, said.

Conviction on the charges carries a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $4,000,000 fine.
