Gibsonburg man gets 90 days for child porn

FREMONT A Sandusky County man has been ordered to spend 90 days in jail and placed under five years of community control sanctions after pleading guilty to two felony charges of transporting and possessing child pornography.

Bruce Iffland, 40, of Gibsonburg, Ohio, was fined $5,000 during his sentencing Monday by Judge Harry Sargeant, Jr., of Sandusky County Common Pleas Court.

Iffland was charged last year with 20 felony counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and was convicted this month of two counts, one a first-degree felony and one a fourth-degree felony, as part of a plea deal.

Authorities say the child pornography offenses occurred between January, 2000, and June, 2002, at his home on South Patterson Street.

Iffland is a former captain with the Sandusky County sheriff s emergency medical service who retired because of disability.

He previously was convicted of importuning, a fifth-degree felony, in Allen County after soliciting an undercover Lima police officer who was posing as a 14-year-old girl on the Internet.
