The Andersons boosts projection for profit

The Andersons Inc. of Maumee announced yesterday it expects its 2005 per-share profit to be $3.30 to $3.37 a share, considerably higher than its earlier guidance of more than $3.

Strong performances in its grain and rail business units, sale of some assets, and improved results in other business units resulted in the latest projections.

The firm had a profit of $2.55 a share in 2004.

It expects to announce its financial performance for last year in early February.
