Toledoan gets 29 years for nursing home robbery

BOWLING GREEN - A Toledo man was sentenced to nearly 29 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of robbing a Perrysburg Township nursing home in June.

Roland Nickelson, 40, of 1662 Belmont Ave. was convicted of robbery, vandalism, and three counts of kidnapping in Wood County Common Pleas Court. He was acquitted on an aggravated robbery charge.

Co-defendant Archie Harris testified during the two-day trial. As part of a September plea agreement, Harris, 32, of 1303 Cove Blvd. pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years.

A third man, Thomas Watkins, 45, of 2914 Holyoke Drive, is slated to go on trial Feb. 27 on complicity charges related to the incident.
