Student pleads not guilty in co-ed's slaying

LIMA, Ohio - A student at Ohio State University's Lima campus has pleaded not guilty to murder with a gun specification of a fellow student from Williams County who lived in his apartment complex.

Richard M. Wegmann II, 19, of Springboro, which is south of Dayton, pleaded not guilty Friday and is to appear again in Allen County Common Pleas Court on March 10. He remained yesterday in the Allen County jail, held on a $500,000 bond that was continued Friday.

Mr. Wegmann was initially charged with reckless homicide, a third-degree felony, stemming from the Feb. 12 shooting death of Linsi E. Light, 19, of Montpelier, at the Coachman East Apartments on Bellefontaine Avenue in Lima. Then a secret indictment was handed up by an Allen County grand jury, charging him with the more serious count.
