Five Lima men and a Columbus man have been indicted in U.S. District Court in Toledo on charges relating to cocaine and marijuana sales over the past 14 years.
The Lima men named in the Feb. 22 indictment include Charles E. Bailey, 31, of 1516 West Wayne St.; Samuel L. Thornton, 58, of 3431 Elida Rd.; Gregory D. Johnson, Jr., 24, of 1433 Plainfield Dr.; Jason C. Anderson, 28, and Jarrett S. Anderson, 25, both of 1000 Fairview St. Also indicted was Robert L. Poole, Jr., 56, of 2308 Woodduck Way, Columbus.
Allen County Sheriff Dan Beck announced the charges Tuesday.
Each man was charged in the indictment with conspiring to possess cocaine, crack, and marijuana with intent to distribute. All but Mr. Bailey also were charged with possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
The charges relate to a five-year probe by local and federal officials that found the men sold or aided in the sale of over 30 kilograms of cocaine and more than 2,200 pounds of marijuana in the Lima and Hardin County areas in transactions dating to 1992, according to federal authorities.
The men were arraigned in federal court. The case was assigned to Judge David Katz; no further hearings are set.
