A Toledo folk dance group has won a bid to host a festival of a national association to promote and preserve Bavarian and Tyrolean culture throughout North America.
The Toledo Holzhacker Buam, or "wood-chopping boys," will host the Gauverband Nordamerika's 22nd Gaufest in Toledo and Lucas County in August, 2009. More than 2,000 people representing the association's clubs in North America are expected to attend the three-day celebration.
The program includes workshops, meetings, and a national competition in Bavarian and Tyrolean dancing.
