Curb's Candle files Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Curb's Candle Co. LLC, which has a store on Central Avenue in Toledo and formerly was in the Erie Street Market, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection from creditors.

In its filing this week, the company listed assets of less than $50,000 and debts of more than $130,000, including $50,000 to National City Bank for the property at 3159 Central Ave. and nearly $22,000 to Charter One Bank for a loan.

The company, started in 1998, was called Curb's Candle by owner J.P. Rady because he said that's where he would end up if the venture did not succeed.
