Toledo woman gets 4 years in prison for child porn

A Toledo woman believed to be the first female in Ohio arrested through a federal initiative to crack down on child pornography has been sentenced to four years in prison.

U.S. District Judge David Katz sentenced Kimberly Majerowski, 41, on Wednesday for possessing a computer that contained images of child pornography.

The prison sentence will be followed by 10 years of probation.

The computer in her home was seized in February, 2005, after agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding the trading of child pornography.

More than 80 images of children engaged in sexually explicit activity were found stored on the computer.

The case was part of Operation Predator, which is ICE s comprehensive initiative to safeguard children from foreign national pedophiles, international sex tourists, Internet child pornographers, and human traffickers.

Greg Palmore, a spokesman for the Detroit office of ICE, said Majerowski is believed to be the first female defendant prosecuted in Ohio in Operation Predator.

Operation Predator evolved out of the agency s mission to find and deport illegal aliens, particularly those with criminal records.

Since its launch in July, 2003, ICE agents have arrested more than 8,200 individuals in the country, including 87 in Ohio.
