Hickory Farms Inc. has decided to consolidate its warehouse facilities into a new location near Joliet, Ill., leaving 12 local workers without jobs.
J. Langdon, president and chief executive officer, said the Maumee packaged-food distributor will combine its warehouses in Maumee and suburban Chicago into a new one in New Lenox, Ill., to be closer to many of its vendors. A month ago, The Blade revealed the move could occur.
The action will eliminate 19 local jobs, although five people decided to move to the new operation.
The 160 employees at the company s headquarters in the Toledo suburb will not be affected, he said.
