OTTAWA, Ohio A Putnam County man who ran over and killed his 2-year-old son with an all-terrain vehicle was handed the maximum sentence yesterday: five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Putnam County Common Pleas Court Judge Randall Basinger sentenced Travis D. Soto, 20, of Oakwood to the most severe penalty for child endangering, a third-degree felony.
Soto pleaded guilty July 6 to the charge as part of an agreement under which prosecutors dismissed a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
Julio Soto-Baldoza died Jan. 23 from internal injuries.
Prosecutors said Soto failed to get medical help for his son.
It wasn t until the boy s mother returned home from work that she dialed 911, saying her son was not breathing.
