VanLandingham freed on bond

Local environmental activist Rick VanLandingham was released on a supervised recognizance bond yesterday after his arraignment in Toledo Municipal Court on a felony charge of retaliation.

Mr. VanLandingham, 37, of 1326 Paxton St. also was ordered to have no contact with city code enforcement officer Sue Frederick.

Mr. VanLandingham called police Tuesday to report his van stolen. When told it was towed to a North Toledo tow yard by the city's nuisance abatement office, he said he was going to arm himself, get his van back, and shoot anyone who got in his way, starting with Ms. Frederick, police said.
