A 77-year-old Toledo man who sexually assaulted two teenage boys was sentenced yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to seven years in prison.
Karl Lang, who entered no contest pleas in June to rape and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and was found guilty, also was classified as a sexual predator during the sentence hearing before Judge Frederick McDonald.
The boys, 13 and 15, were sexually abused on numerous occasions at the former South Toledo residence of the defendant between April, 2005 and last January.
"There was a long period here of conduct between the defendant and these two victims," Judge McDonald said.
Lang also was indicted on two additional counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, but the charges were dismissed as part of the plea deal with prosecutors. He could have received as many as 15 years in prison.
Judge McDonald said one of the victims was furnished with alcohol and was shown pornographic videos during the sexual abuse.
Neither of the victims was present in the courtroom.
In interviews with a court psychologist to determine the sexual classification, Lang blamed one of the victims and told the psychologist that he was the actual victim, Judge McDonald said.
Lang, who will not be eligible for early release from prison, said in court that he was sorry and promised that he wouldn't commit any similar acts again.
