Worker accused of loafing cleared
A city worker accused of goofing off in his city pickup when Mayor Carty Finkbeiner saw him has been cleared of wrongdoing.
Mayoral spokesman Brian Schwartz said the forestry employee's log showed he was on break. The employee was cited by the mayor, though not by name, at a news conference Jan. 9 in which Mr. Finkbeiner asked the public's help in alerting officials to city employees who were not doing a full day's work.
Mr. Schwartz said the employee was en route in the truck from an assignment in the Library Village area to an assignment in the Bancroft Street-Reynolds Road area and stopped in the Elder-Beerman parking lot for a scheduled break.
