Man sentenced to 7 years in prison in connection with North Toledo double homicide last year

A Toledo man will spend 7 years in prison for his role in the murders of Tammy Cappelletty, 30, and Juan Ybarra, 24, of Toledo.

Lucas County Common Pleas Court Judge James Jensen sentenced Latrel Brown, 25, this morning after Brown s defense attorney, John Thebes, noted Brown s critical testimony in the week-long trial against his former co-defendant, Tyrone Johnson, 28.

Johnson was given a life sentence earlier this week for the shootings after Brown admitted his part in a drug deal between the three men. Brown today was found guilty of robbery with a gun specification.

As part of the plea deal, the murder charge against Brown was dropped.

The men were involved in a drug transaction in Ms. Cappellety s car on Sept. 19 in North Toledo when Johnson pulled out a gun and shot them both from behind.
