Rape, burglary suspect to be tested for HIV

A Toledo man was arraigned yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court on two counts of rape and one count of aggravated burglary.

Odell Welch, 48, of 521 Earl St., pleaded not guilty to all charges. Judge Ruth Ann Franks set a pretrial hearing for July 19 and trial for July 30. Mr. Welch is being held in the county jail in lieu of a $275,000 bond.

The judge granted the state s request to have Mr. Welch tested for HIV, the results of which will be forwarded confidentially to the court.
