The closing of five area stores by the Pharm discount drug store chain won t affect other northwest Ohio locations, a spokesman said.
Owner Spartan Stores Inc., of Grand Rapids, Mich., will close the discount drug and food stores in Bowling Green, Port Clinton, Findlay, Napoleon, and Lima by the end of the month because of their distance from Toledo, insufficient profitability, lack of growth potential, and expiring leases, spokesman Jeanne Norcross said. About 100 employees will be affected.
Pharmacies will close over the next two weeks with customer prescriptions transferred to other drug chains. The closings will leave 14 Pharm locations, mostly in Toledo and its suburbs. Spartan has no plans to close those stores, the spokesman said.
