Ex-NFL player must pay $190,000 in child support
A former NFL player was convicted yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for failing to pay child support.
Tyrone Brown, 34, of Snellville, Ga., pleaded no contest to nonsupport of a dependent. He was found guilty by Judge Gene Zmuda, who sentenced him to five years of community control and ordered that he pay $190,000 in child support.
Brown, a receiver who was on the Atlanta Falcons roster in 1995-96, graduated in 1994 from the University of Toledo, where he played for the Rockets.
Judge Zmuda allowed Brown to remain living in Georgia on the condition that a probation department in his community accepts the case. He said Brown faces up to 10 months in prison if he violates his probation or fails to continue the current child support order.
