Toledoan, 46, is indicted over assault, abduction

A central Toledo man accused of beating a woman, forcing her into his vehicle, then fleeing from police was indicted yesterday by a Lucas County grand jury on felonious assault and abduction charges.

If convicted, Alan Price, 46, of 1429 Avondale Ave. faces up to 13 years in prison.

Price approached Veronica Ladow, 47, about 3 a.m. Aug. 19 in the 800 block of Belmont Avenue and asked for money. When she told him she didn t have any, Price beat her and forced her into his car, police said.

Officers caught up with Price s car at Belmont and Hawley Street and attempted to stop it. But Price continued north on Hoag Street and west on Avondale before abandoning the car in front of his house and fleeing on foot. Ms. Ladow was found badly beaten in the front passenger seat, police said. She was treated at Toledo Hospital.
