Toledoan gets 45 days for hitting officer

BOWLING GREEN A Toledo motorist who struck and injured a Perrysburg Township police officer outside CedarCreek Church was sentenced in Wood County Common Pleas Court yesterday to 45 days in jail and three years of community control.

Further, he was ordered to write an apology letter to Officer Jeremy Green on the anniversary of the incident for the next three years.

Aaron Nowakowski, 30, also was told by Judge Alan Mayberry to spend 150 days on electronic home monitoring after he serves his jail term, perform 200 hours of community service, and not to consume alcohol.

In August, Nowakowski pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of vehicular assault for striking Officer Green Dec. 8, 2007, as he was directing church traffic at the church on Lime City Road.
