Area businesses gain in quest for state aid

Businesses in Whitehouse and Norwalk were approved yesterday for state of Ohio economic development assistance.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved $87,301 in tax credits for tool manufacturer Kennametal Inc. for a plant expansion in Whitehouse that will create 42 jobs and retain 86 over the next three years.

The Development Financing Advisory Council recommended a $1.8 million low-interest loan for 100 Furniture Parkway LLC. The firm, part of Norwalk Custom Order Furniture LLC successor to failed Norwalk Furniture Corp. will use the money to help purchase land. The loan is subject to approval by the Ohio Controlling Board.
